Norwegian tenor Petter Moen began his musical studies at the Norwegian Academy of Music in Oslo, and later with Susanna Eken at the Academy of the Royal Opera in Copenhagen.
He has sung different roles at the Norwegian National Opera in Oslo, such as Eurimaco in Monteverdi's Il ritorno d'Ulisse in Patria, Tanzmeister in Strauss' Ariadne auf Naxos, Remendado in Bizet's Carmen and Don Curzio in Mozart's Le Nozze di Figaro.
At the Händel-Festspiele Halle he could be heard as Scitalce in Vinci's Semiramide Riconosciuta with the Bach Consort Wien. Petter Moen made his professional operatic debut with the Wermland Opera in Karlstad, Sweden, singing the role of Almaviva in Rossini's Il Barbiere di Siviglia.
Mr. Moen is also active as a concert singer. His oratorio repertoire includes Bach's Weihnachtsoratorium, Johannes-Passion, H-moll messe, Magnificat and several cantatas. Furthermore, he has sung other staples of the oratorio repertoire such as Händel's Messiah, Telemann's Der Tod Jesu and Rossini's Stabat Mater.
Petter Moen is the recipient of grants from the Ruud-Wallenberg Foundation and Erling Kroghs Grant from the Norwegian National Opera.
Recent highlights include the roles of Goro in Puccini´s Madama Butterfly at the Norwegian National Opera, Bach's Johannes-passion in Bergen and Copenhagen, and Händel´s Messiah with the Teatro Nacional de São Carlos and conductor Joana Carneiro. The role of Bill in Jonathan Dove's opera Flight at the Oldenburgisches Staatstheater, Second Jew in Salome at Bergen International Festival, performances of Mendelssohns Elijah and Händels Utrechter Te Deum were among the planned events for spring 2020.
The season 2020/21 includes the role of Jaquino in a new production of Beethoven's Fidelio at The Royal Danish Opera, Remendado in Bizet´s Carmen with the Norwegian National Opera , Mendelssohn's Elijah with Oslo Bach-kor and the role of Janek in Janáček's opera The Makropolus Case at the Malmö Opera.
